ChatterFox is an English-speaking practice app aimed at non-native learners who want to improve their pronunciation, reduce accent, and speak fluently like an American. It offers structured video lessons, accent coach feedback, interactive practice, and tools for users to record their speech and compare with native speakers. Thousands of people use ChatterFox daily to build confidence, master tricky sounds, and reduce accent interference in their speech.Client requirements
The client wanted a cross-platform mobile solution that provides accurate feedback on pronunciation, helps learners reduce their accent, and strengthens fluency through repeated practice. They required features like speech recognition, human coaching, progress tracking, video or audio lessons, interactive “listen & repeat” exercises, and cultural context to help learners sound more like native speakers. The UI/UX needed to be engaging, motivational, and accessible so that learners can use the app regularly without frustration. Also, the app should scale well, support thousands of users, and have strong audio processing performance.Solution we delivered
We built ChatterFox using Flutter to deliver consistent behavior and design across both Android and iOS platforms, speeding up development and ensuring parity. For pronunciation and accent learning, we integrated speech recognition and AI-powered feedback that analyzes user recordings, compares them to native speaker models, and points out improvements. We developed modules of video lessons, “listen & repeat” practice, human coach feedback, and personalized training paths (including initial assessments) that dynamically adjust as the user progresses. Gamified lessons, cultural notes, and interactive exercises helped keep users engaged and motivated. We also optimized audio processing for performance, ensured smooth UI transitions, and built robust backend infrastructure to scale and handle feedback loops and user progress tracking.The development team did an outstanding job bringing our vision to life.
